NIPA Ndola Campus joined the rest of the world in commemorating this important occasion under the theme, “Igniting Libraries: Building Partnerships for Thriving Communities.”

As part of the celebrations, the Library had the pleasure of hosting pupils from Perseverance Primary School. During their visit, the pupils were given a guided tour of the library facilities and introduced to various library resources and services. The interaction was both informative and inspiring, fostering an appreciation for reading and lifelong learning among the young learners.

The learners, accompanied by two senior teachers and the head teacher, Mrs. Chisanga Beuty, were warmly received by be the Head of Campus and library staff and engaged in activities aimed at promoting literacy, fostering a reading culture, and enhancing appreciation for library services. One of the highlights of the event was a reading competition, which provided the learners with an opportunity to demonstrate their reading proficiency, confidence, and comprehension skills.

To recognize and encourage excellence, outstanding participants in the competition were rewarded for their achievements. The best reader received a scientific calculator, while the second and third best readers were each awarded a mathematical set. In appreciation of their participation and effort, all learners who took part in the competition received a 20-centimeter ruler, as well as pens and pencils.

In addition to the reading competition, the learners attended an inspiring career talk designed to broaden their understanding of future educational and career opportunities. The session emphasized the importance of education, reading, and lifelong learning while highlighting the critical role libraries play in personal development, academic success, and career advancement.

The learners also enriched the occasion by presenting inspirational poems that highlighted the importance of libraries and reading. Their presentations demonstrated a clear appreciation of the role libraries play in nurturing knowledge, creativity, and personal growth.

The visiting learners expressed immense excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to visit the NIPA Ndola Library. They appreciated the value of libraries as centers of knowledge, learning, and innovation and acknowledged their significance in shaping future aspirations and achieving personal goals.

The career talk, reading competition, and poetry presentations successfully reflected the spirit of this year’s National Library Week theme by inspiring young learners, promoting a culture of reading, and strengthening partnerships between educational institutions and the wider community.

The second day of the National Library Week celebrations at NIPA Ndola Campus was both successful and impactful. Through meaningful engagement with learners from Perseverance Primary School, the library staff reaffirmed the importance of libraries in advancing literacy, education, and community development. The event served as a powerful reminder of the transformative role libraries continue to play in building informed, empowered, and thriving communities.

NIPA Ndola Campus was represented by two library staff members, Chiinda Shimilimo and Gift Chitasha, who coordinated and facilitated the day’s activities.
Some snacks were also shared thereafter, with the learners and the Teachers from Perseverance primary school 😊.
